About the Prizes and the Prize Pool
All participating nonprofits that have met the criteria for prize eligibility (mainly completing registration requirements by the deadline) are divided into categories based on size for competitive equity. There are two categories, small and large. Each prize is awarded to a winner in the small and large categories.
Cash prize amounts are determined by total dollars in the prize pool. Prize amounts are announced in mid-March.
Your sponsorship level entitles your business to representation on the day of the event in one of three tiers. Note that the event website will be updated in mid-March to reflect sponsorships – and traffic to the website increases substantially as the event date nears. We promote prizes (and your sponsorship) ahead of the date to nonprofits so that they can publicize and target their giving during the event.
TIER ONE
The Leaderboard Prizes are the two largest prizes of the day.
- Most Donors: awarded to the top three nonprofits in Small and Large categories.
- Most Dollars Raised: awarded to the top three nonprofits in Small and Large categories.
TIER TWO
Power Hours reward the top nonprofits in the small and large categories that reach either the most number of donors or raise the most dollars in specified hours.
These are essentially hour-long competitions – your sponsorship as a contributor to the prize pool is promoted during this time and a representative from your company is invited to join us for a social media promotion and to present the award.
TIER THREE
Golden Tickets are awarded twice during the day. During specified hours, a donor will be randomly selected during that hour and that donor’s gift to a nonprofit will be enhanced.
GCG also awards a select number of other prizes recognizing the top individual donor and the top ambassador/influencer who fundraises for an organization, among others.
